Our early arrival to the airport, made for a very smooth check in (minus the practical joke my son played on me). We managed to get everybody's boarding passes, then headed over to the food court for a small snack. Not knowing wether we will be served a meal on a 3 hour flight, we didn't want to risk it.

About 1 hour later, it was time to make our way to the gate. We took about 20 photo's at the Departure Gate and then the tears began flowing. This was the first overseas trip for a few people in our group and their parents were worried. I assured them I would take good care of everyone, then we passed through the departure gate doors. All my nerves seamed to disappeared and settle. (Can you hear me sighing with relief?)

The general boarding began and it felt like we were never going to get going. We settled into our seats and you could feel the excitement from everyone including myself. Our plane took off successfully and we settled in for a nice 3 hour flight to our first destination which was Auckland, New Zealand.

We arrived in Auckland and made our way to the International Transit Lounge. We had a very small 55 minute lay-over. We managed to sit down and almost immediately we began boarding the 747 which would take us to our second destination of Los Angeles. This flight seemed to drag on and on!!

We landed in Los Angeles and the fun began. I felt like Mother duck, guiding her ducklings to the pond. Everyone grabbed their own bags and we head for the street to catch the shuttle to our Rent-A-Car place. As we arrived at the street, we just barely missed the shuttle we needed. Everyone seemed upset but I assured them that another one would be along in a matter of a few minutes. (Thank god the shuttle didn't let me down)

We boarded the shuttle and with the amount of people, and bags, this took about 5 minutes. We finally arrived at the Rent-A-Car counter and of course, things couldn't run smoothly. Our paperwork was missing. The lady helping us was very courteous and apologies for this mix-up so I couldn't get angry at her for the hold up. I was just tired and really wanted to hit the road to our 3 destination of Tulelakes California.

We managed to pull out of the Rent-A-Car place approximately 2 hours late. I basically know my way around LA and I managed to get us to the Freeway we needed to take north bound to Tulelakes. We drove for aproxiamately 5 hours and I was so tired that I couldn't continue and we decided to find the nearest motel and spend the night. We pulled into Fresno California and hit the pillow.
